{"id":218,"date":"2013-11-16T09:59:37","date_gmt":"2013-11-16T17:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bornski.com\/maria\/blog\/?p=218"},"modified":"2022-11-21T13:54:05","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T21:54:05","slug":"sweet-potato-pecan-crumbles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bornski.com\/maria\/blog\/2013\/11\/16\/sweet-potato-pecan-crumbles\/","title":{"rendered":"Sweet Potato Pecan Crumbles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got this recipe from the Le Creuset &#8220;Mini-Cocotte&#8221; cookbook, and plan to adapt it to larger sizes for Thanksgiving. \u00a0I&#8217;m putting it up here to make it easy to find.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Sweet Potato Pecan Crumbles<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2.25 lbs sweet potatoes<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1\/4 C flour<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1\/4 C dark brown sugar<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1\/2 t pumpkin pie spice<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1\/2 stick sweet butter, well chilled and cut into small cubes<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2 oz pecans<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1\/4 cup maple syrup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Instructions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Preheat the oven to 350.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Lightly butter 4 mini cocottes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the sugar and spices to the flour. \u00a0With your finger tips, swiftly work the cold butter into the dry ingredients. \u00a0It should look like cornmeal. \u00a0Careful! Proceed quickly. \u00a0If your ingredients become too warm, put the bowl immediately into the refrigerator for 15 minutes until all is very well chilled and begin again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them diagonally into 1\/4 inch slices. \u00a0Divide these between the 4 mini cocottes. \u00a0Sprinkle each with half of the &#8220;crumble&#8221; mixture. \u00a0Layer the rest of the sweet potatoes slices with the remaining &#8220;crumble&#8221;. \u00a0Scatter the pecans and moisten each with the maple syrup.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Cover with a sheet of aluminium and bake alongside your roast for 45 minutes. \u00a0Remove the foil after 30 minutes. \u00a0Serve piping hot!<\/p>\n<p>This recipe definitely has some promise, but I&#8217;m not certain the authors had anyone proofread or attempt to make this after they wrote the recipe. \u00a0For example, they tell you to divide all the sweet potatoes into the cocottes, but then they tell you to put in the rest of the sweet potatoes.<\/p>\n<p>I think of most recipes as guidelines anyway, so I&#8217;ll be able to work off this to make something very delicious.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got this recipe from the Le Creuset &#8220;Mini-Cocotte&#8221; cookbook, and plan to adapt it to larger sizes for Thanksgiving. \u00a0I&#8217;m putting it up here to make it easy to find.
